3111 - Preparing Utilities for Natural Disasters using Location Based Disaster Management Solutions

Session Speakers
Session Description

A look at the limitations and effectiveness of a Utility's systems and grid when preparing for the onset and aftermath of natural disasters. Legacy Utility systems are challenged by effectively integrating with each other, using big data analytics, machine learning, social media connectivity and therefore lack the ability to proactively plan their response and execute disaster management contingencies. Furthermore, they do not allow for collaboration with local emergency response and disaster management services. With an integrated system where data and systems collaborate effectively with minimal effort, we enable proactive management of the disaster and local emergency services. The solution, "On-Demand" cloud hosted service, leverages historical and predictive analytics, machine learning and social media integration to improve the effectiveness of forecasting a natural disaster and the Utility's response plan. So what are the benefits of this solution? To name a few, it enables the Utility to proactively manage risks on business critical systems, improve planning and execution therefore reducing costs and reducing downtime and power disruptions that impact their customers.
